Facility Information
The staff at Pura Vida Yoga Retreat & Spa looks forward to being your host at our beautiful mountain resort in Costa Rica! The following information will help you prepare for the trip and ensure a rich and fulfilling experience for your students.
THE RESORT All services and halls are within short walking distance of tents and rooms. Additional bathrooms and showers are located throughout the resort for our guests' comfort. We have a beautiful gift shop on site that sells a few basic sundries. Plus, the nearby town has stores that offer almost anything you might need. Our reception is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for guest services and staff is available 24 hours a day for emergencies.
FOOD & WATER Our water is safe for drinking and bottled water is available at the bar. Soft drinks, beer and wine are also available. Our restaurant is casual buffet and our staff take great pride in serving delicious meals. The menu includes a variety of vegetarian fare as well as chicken and fish. We also can accommodate vegan and high-protein diets. MEAL TIMES: Breakfast 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Lunch 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Dinner 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
GETTING AROUND Airport pick-up and drop-off are included in the package price. Our representative will be waiting for you at the terminal exit with a sign listing your name and "VILLAS PURA VIDA". Reception can help you book taxis and rental cars if needed for special excursions. The area around the resort is very safe for walking and weekly hiking tours are organized for our guests
HALLS There are five halls available for courses and yoga. In addition, we have lawn areas for outdoor meetings (our sunrises and sunsets are spectacular!!). Faculty is responsible for set-up of the halls in preparation for classes and take-down after each class. On-site coordinators are available for special requests (additional towels, water, other equipment, etc). Every hall is stocked with plenty of yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets.
SCHEDULES Schedules for each group are made according to the number of groups in a given week, the number of participants and availability of halls. Upon your arrival we will provide you with the schedule for the week, after we have discussed your specific needs via email prior to the event. To accommodate meal and excursion times, most teachers offer morning classes at 6 or 6:30 am. The sun rises here all year round 5:30 am and by 6:00 am everyone is usually naturally awake and alert. Sunset is around 6:00 pm all year round.
AUDIO/VIDEO/PRODUCTION FACILITIES Please take into consideration that despite our efforts to supply you with the best and widest range of facilities for your courses, we cannot provide the same standard and variety as is available in the United States (we make up for this with our beautiful gardens and incredible views!). The equipment that is available should satisfy most requirements. Please let us know in advance of any special needs or requests.
AUDIO: Each hall has equipment to play CD's and cassettes. VIDEO: There is one 32" TV monitor and video player REMOTE MICS: We have two systems available DRY ERASE BOARDS: Each hall has one. WRITING SUPPLIES: These must be ordered in advance. A small fee will be charged to students INSTRUMENTS: We have 10 djembes, a variety of percussion and rhythm instruments on site. EVENING ACTIVITIES We have several evening activities each week open to all our guests, all of which are very popular. These activities vary according to available staff on the premises. We usually offer salsa dancing lessons and a drumming circle. We are happy to accommodate your own evening classes.
COURSE SPECIFIC MATERIALS We do not sell course specific materials through our store. We will provide you with space and facilities to supply your students with the materials.
CHILDREN & INFANTS Pura Vida does not provide infant and child care. Local sitting assistance is available for a very moderate cost; otherwise, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For childcare request, please contact the resort directly @ 011-506-2-483-0033 or email: frontdesk@puravidaspacr.com.

Check in time is 2:00 p.m. and check out time is 11:00 a.m. If your departing flight leaves early in the morning, please check out the day before and settle any costs you may have incurred during your stay. TIPS The staff gratuities are not included in the package price. We recommend $50 per guest for the entire week for the general staff of 30 people. We ask you to tip your massage therapist separately.
SAFETY Our resort is very secure, yet as a standard precaution we recommend that you store your valuables (cash, credit cards, passports, plane tickets, etc) in the safe available in the office.
EXCURSIONS & TOURS If you have included tours in your program, our regular tour package includes tours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday and Friday are ½ day tours usually leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning for lunch. The full-day white water rafting tour on Wednesday leaves at 5:30 a.m. and returns for dinner. In our busy season we may also open up Tuesday and Thursday for the half-day excursions. If you have opted not to include these tours in your week's package, you and your students are very welcome to purchase these tours a la carte. Additional optional excursions, like the canopy adventure, can be organized upon request. Our tour and excursion times are set. As we will be hosting several groups at one time, departure times must be honored
