Eco-Adventure Tours

Pura Vida offers a wide range of eco-adventure tours to satisfy just about everyone: the thrill-seeker, the beachcomber, the bird watcher and the nature lover.

Our Mind-Body-Spirit Program participants have one full-day and two half-day eco-adventure tours included as part of their package. Other programs may or may not have tours included. Please contact our reservations office for details. If not included in a particular program, all tours are available a la carte for an additional charge.

Mind-Body-Spirit Program Tour Package

White-Water Rafting* -- Full-day excursion. The Pacuare River, which cuts through one of the most pristine pockets of wilderness left on the planet, is ranked among the top 5 on the list of wild and scenic rivers worldwide. This 18-mile rafting adventure, through the most beautiful river canyon in the tropics, is for the adventuresome beginner and the experienced rafter alike. The rapids are class 3 and 4. Breakfast and lunch included.

White water rafting is a very thrilling and fun-filled experience. Participants should expect this to be a real adventure and it is not for the feint of heart since class 3 and class 4 rapids are encountered. Accidents are rare, but can occur mainly involving rafters falling out of the raft. A professional company that is very safety conscious is contracted by us.

At Day At The Beach* -- Full-day excursion. A private club on the Pacific side that offers two beaches, swimming pools and hikes through the coastal rain forest. Buffet lunch included.

OR

Wildlife Boat Tour* -- Full-day excursion. A naturalist guide takes you on a leisurely hike through the Carara Biological Reserve rain forest, then on a relaxing boat tour down the free-flowing waters of the Tarcoles River. You can see crocodiles, cayman, sloths, monkeys, bats, iguanas and other reptiles, and numerous species of exotic lowland tropical birds. Lunch is included.

Waterfall Gardens -- Half-day excursion. A beautiful hike along the La Paz river where a series of five waterfalls cascade through the cloud forest. You will also see the largest butterfly enclosure in the world, as well as a hummingbird garden where more than a dozen species fly and flitter within arm's reach.

Poas Volcano -- Half-day excursion. Walk through the cloud forest at the top of this semi-active volcano where you can peer into the crater itself with its iridescent blue water and fumaroles.
